Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide legal support for employment law and litigation matters, including liaising with external counsel; reviewing and editing pleadings; attending mediations, examinations for discovery and, trials.
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to advise on pre-litigation and litigation related matters, assisting with litigation strategy for the Americas.
- Provide legal support for workplace and employment relations matters, including regulatory compliance; performance management; discipline and termination; harassment, discrimination, and reductions in force.
- Manage employment-related claims in Canada, including active participation in mediations and litigation.
- Collaborate with and assist in managing outside counsel.
- Develop and/or review company employment policies, employment contracts, and communications.
- Deliver legal updates and training to Human Resources and business leaders with a view of educating and managing risks across the organization.
- Provide insight for other legal groups such as M, Commercial, or Corporate Counsel teams as needed.
