JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a lawyer with business acumen and a relentless focus on the client experience. The successful candidate will join a dynamic legal team supporting Sun Life’s Investment Solutions business, which includes our retail investments business with particular emphasis on Sun Life’s asset management and investment fund business, Sun Life Global Investments. Sun Life Global Investments manufactures leading edge investment management products including mutual funds, segregated funds and annuities. This is an agile role.

The successful candidate will be resilient, adaptable, highly motivated and self-confident. They will be required to provide proactive, timely and strategic legal support to senior business leaders and their teams, as well as related support areas such as Product Development, Investment Operations, Risk, Compliance and IT on a broad range of matters associated with the investment funds and asset management solutions offered by our subsidiary, SLGI Asset Management Inc. This will involve advising on product development and administration, client inquiries, reviewing product and marketing materials, and drafting agreements. In addition, the successful candidate will provide strategic legal support to our Canadian retail distribution business, which will require securities regulation experience with a particular emphasis on investment dealer (IIROC) experience. The successful candidate will also advise on applicable laws, policies and procedures, and regulatory obligations, and participate in Sun Life’s advocacy initiatives on legal and regulatory developments and changes.
