Description:
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing legal services relating to the Company’s union-affiliated population.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Bar admission required
- Excellent academic credentials
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience with bargaining agreements and union/management relations
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in labor and employment field
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in entertainment industry labor and employment field strongly preferred
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws (EEO, FLSA, etc.)
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Excel proficiency, including the use of formulas, functions, tables, ranges, and pivot tables to analyze mass payroll data
- Thrives working in a team environment
- Ease with open communication and difficult conversations
- Experience interacting with all levels of staff and personnel, including senior management, executives, and industry colleagues
- Self-motivated, proactive, and inquisitive
- Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills
- Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing competing deadlines
- Negotiation experience
- Litigation experience

Responsibilities:
- Providing advice and counsel to Motion Picture, Finance, Studio Groups, and productions concerning union and guild collective bargaining agreements
- Providing labor and employment advice and counsel to Motion Picture and Studio Groups concerning production and Backlot employees
- Helping develop and maintain industry relationships
- Helping prepare for negotiation of industrywide collective bargaining agreements, including gathering information from various Studio Groups, analyzing payroll data and production reports, and preparing responses to requests for information
- Attending negotiations of industrywide collective bargaining agreements, and helping represent Paramount’s position in the negotiation
- Helping negotiate production-specific collective bargaining agreements
- Handling labor grievances, including factual investigation, evaluating contractual positions and financial impact, negotiating settlement, and drafting settlement agreements
- Managing outside counsel handling arbitration not resolved in the grievance process
- Conducting investigations concerning claims of harassment, bullying, and retaliation, and recommend disciplinary action for Backlot employees
- Helping investigate and resolve audit claims from various pension & health plans
- Helping defend NLRB, EEO and wage and hour cases
- When requested, serving on various industry committees and/or as a trustee on guild and union pension and health plans
