Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) is looking for a Senior Counsel to join our legal team supporting our General Counsel on a contract basis. This role can be worked on either a full time or part time basis depending on personal circumstances. We are proud to be a “Mumsnet Flexible” employer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing legal and strategic advice to business leaders in support of business operations and strategic projects
  • Supervising the work and supporting the personal development of Counsel within the team
  • Acting as a role model for and inspiring team member
  • Positively representing the services and capabilities of the Legal team internally and externally
  • Working with the Governance/ Company Secretarial function to promote the efficient and compliant management of the business
  • Working in a busy international environment
  • Prepare, review and negotiate legal documentation including agency distribution and commercial contracts
  • Good working knowledge of general insurance matters including one or all of: wordings, delegated underwriting, Lloyd’s and company markets
  • Procure external legal advice as appropriate and assist the GC in the management of relationships with legal advisors including fee negotiation and cost containment
  • Working collaboratively where required within the team
