JOB SUMMARY:

Position Summary
This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work 2-3 days onsite at a Company designated location and occasionally from home.
With an emphasis on anatomy and form, the Senior Creature Modeler will create three dimensional CG characters, creatures and costumes for production.

What You’ll Do

  • Create high end three-dimensional creatures, characters and costumes for production. Use specific software tools to build the geometric structure of the object and ensure that the model will satisfy the requirements of the production
  • In building creatures, you will incorporate technical expertise, artistic ability, and a good understanding of animation
  • Work with the production team (Modeling Lead/Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, Technical Directors and Animators) to identify the “look” for an object
  • Build the geometry, with an understanding of how the asset will be used in the entire production process
  • Perform other tasks related to the needs of the project
  • Create face shapes, flex shapes and correctives

What We’re Looking For

  • Portfolio demonstrating character skill set, displaying a strong understanding of anatomy, character design, face shapes and movement
  • Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus
  • 5+ years proven experience creating digital creatures or characters in a feature film or production environment
  • A familiarity with film and video post production techniques and the full VFX pipeline
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard software
  • Knowledge of LINUX is a necessity to navigate through ILM’s production pipeline

The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$108,400 to C$138,800 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
