Description:

ABOUT US:

Our mission is to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy by providing innovative financial solutions to our clients.
We are not just any energy and sustainability group; we’re a dynamic, award-winning powerhouse! At the forefront of environmental innovation, we lead the charge in providing cutting-edge solutions for large-scale energy consumers. From guiding small business to corporate giants on their journey to achieve net zero emissions to expertly managing risks and supplying vital power and gas resources, we do it all. But wait, there’s more! We’re not content with just excelling in our current ventures - we thrive on pioneering new businesses and seizing energy investment opportunities.
Role:
As part of the CFP Energy Credit Risk team, you will be involved in assessing and monitoring the credit quality of our trading clients and developing strategies to mitigate such risk by setting appropriate external and internal limits, requiring collateral, margining, parent guarantees, and credit insurance as required. You will be liaising with both the internal multi-lingual salesforce, our market risk team as well as our existing and prospective clients across Europe and reaching into Asia and America. We have a privileged information flow with our clients and are usually in discussions with them at the board level to understand their business, prospects, journey to net zero, and hedging requirements.
It is beholden to the credit function to ensure we use our balance sheet judiciously and carefully in supporting our clients. These are typically found among Europe’s middle-sized businesses, spread across the Continent and energy-intensive businesses. You will use your credit expertise, and information from our client’s KYC/AML submissions, including corporate structure, audited financial statements, S&P CapitalIQ, bond, and equity market signals, rating agency reports and competitor reporting and news flow to make your written credit judgments and submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Credit Analysis: take a senior lead in conducting comprehensive credit analysis of businesses as potential counterparties to assess their creditworthiness and identify potential risks based on the review and analysis of financial statements, often but not always prepared by our junior credit analysts, and other relevant financial data to evaluate the financial health and stability of our customers
  • Risk Assessment: provide rating recommendations and participate in the collective assessment and measurement of credit risk by evaluating various factors such as industry trends, market conditions, collateral, and repayment capacity.
  • Credit Portfolio Monitoring: provide oversight in monitoring and reviewing credit portfolios to identify emerging risks and trends and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Documentation and Reporting: prepare clear and concise credit risk reports, including summarizing findings, recommendations, and supporting analysis, to present to the firm’s internal Risk Committee.
  • Training: mentoring and training of the more Junior Credit Risk Analysts in the team.
  • M&A: support our internal M&A function, in reviewing acquisition and investment opportunities, prepare concise submissions to the firm’s Investment Committee, prepare bid letters, participate in negotiations of final term sheets and help manage the due diligence and sale & purchase documentation managing outside specialists.
  • Automate and streamline processes for integration, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Continuously monitoring the credit risk environment and macroeconomic trends.
