Description:

Job Title: Senior Credit Risk Manager
Team: Portfolio Credit Risk
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week
Salary: up to £85,000 and up to 20% bonus and benefits
Location: Hybrid work from our London office in Holborn

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the 2nd line Credit Risk control and governance agenda including the implementation of the Credit Risk Management Framework across the Bank.
  • Oversight of credit risk policies – includes policies relating to Responsible Lending, Affordability, Exceptions, Collections, Recoveries, Forbearance and Impairment. Ensure policies are in-line with relevant regulatory requirements and also provide oversight to ensure adherence to policy - escalating risks / issues as appropriate.
  • Drive Credit Committee agenda – includes identification of risk / issues relating to credit risk and escalating as appropriate.
  • Develop credit risk appetite limits and work with the Business to seek approval from credit committee and senior committees.
  • Standup the Bank’s credit risk assurance plan and conduct regular credit risk assurance reviews ensuring observations and recommendations are presented at credit committee.
  • Monitor progress against any credit risk related findings from internal/external audit, 2nd line assurance, model validation etc. Work through managing any risks / issues with respect to closure of findings.
  • Regular review of the credit performance and credit risk profile of portfolios across the Bank, ensuring credit risk KPIs continue to be in line with agreed credit risk appetite.
  • Review watchlist cases ensuring appropriate treatment from an impairment provisions and customer lens.
  • Review and challenge proposals from the Business (1st line) and provide 2nd line feedback / recommendation/s as part of credit committee governance.
  • Oversight and monitoring of the performance of new originations at appropriate level of granularity, including policy exceptions monitoring.
  • Review and challenge performance of models used for credit decisioning – to include provisions, affordability and scorecards – provide recommendations on enhancements as appropriate.
  • Work with Data team to ensure delivery of Credit Risk data requirements (e.g. for credit committee MI).
  • Develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders - includes Product, Operations, Finance and Compliance.
  • Work with external stakeholders including 3rd party consultancies and Bureau to ensure availability of appropriate data to deliver credit risk team goals.
  • Adapt communication style and approaches to articulate findings, business impacts and recommendations confidently and effectively, in particular, with respect to written and verbal communication at Heads of, Director and ExCo level.
  • Build, coach and develop Portfolio Credit Risk team and support the Risk maturity agenda across the Bank. Share best practices with wider Credit Risk team, with particular focus market leading practices on credit risk control and governance, analytics and insight reporting.
  • Deputise for Credit Risk Director on all Portfolio Credit Risk and also wider Credit Risk activities where appropriate
