THE OPPORTUNITY

A Senior Cybersecurity Automation Engineer is a professional who specializes in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated security systems to protect an organization’s computer networks and systems. This role involves a combination of cybersecurity expertise and programming/scripting skills to create scripts and tools that automate security tasks, such as threat detection, response, and compliance checks.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and implement automation scripts and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cybersecurity operations.
• Collaborate with security analysts and engineers to understand manual processes and identify opportunities for automation.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks to support security incident response, threat hunting, and compliance monitoring.
• Develop integrations between various security platforms and tools to enable seamless data sharing and automated workflows.
• Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies to continuously improve automated defenses.
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure that automation tools are functioning correctly and meeting security requirements.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE, YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on automation and scripting.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
• Experience with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms.
• Knowledge of security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS and endpoint protection.
• Familiarity with cloud security and automation tools in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Relevant cloud or cybersecurity certifications are a plus.
