KARL STORZ is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Analyst to join the Sales Analytics team. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in revenue data analytics, financial modeling, and predictive modeling. They are passionate about creating business value by analyzing complex datasets and developing analytical models. They have strong problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations, and solid skills in project management.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales Analytics, the Senior Data Analyst will manage commercial territories, set and deliver sales quotas for commercial teams, and support the stakeholders (Commercial Leadership, Sales and Marketing) teams in decision-making by providing insightful analytics and tracking key performance indicators.
A well-qualified candidate will be highly technical with strong business acumen. The successful candidate is a self-starter with abundant intellectual curiosity who excels at framing problems analytically, is comfortable working through ambiguity, and has a proven track record of leveraging analytical insights to drive impactful decisions. The candidate is expected to work with large structured and unstructured data sets, apply various data engineering and modeling techniques, and develop and deploy complex analytical models.

III. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering) or equivalent consulting experience.
  • A minimum of four years of professional experience in analytics with an emphasis on sales, marketing, or revenue operations.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in sales territory management and sales quota setting for a business to business.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in creating reports and writing analysis for executives or board members.
  • A minimum of four years of professional experience in designing, developing, and scripting data pipelines, data sources and dashboards in visualization tools. Experience in Tableau is a plus. (Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Server)
  • Proficient in SQL and/or other data query languages. Experience of handling large scale data efficiently.
  • Proficient with Python or R is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL process, data exploration, data modeling/design and data wrangling/transformation.
  • Understanding of statistics concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to explain technical or analytical solutions and methodologies in a consumable way to the stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success working in a collaborative, service-oriented team environment.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional setting and managing the full lifecycle of projects.
  • Experience working well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with self-discipline and a drive for results, and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven experience with tolerance for ambiguity working through incubation to actual product definition.
  • Pragmatic attitude and ability to rapidly iterate and evolve ideas into practical implementations.
  • Experience in medical device or healthcare industry is a plus.
  • Ability for up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales Analytics: Develop analytical models using various datasets (historical performance, surgical procedures, Salesforce.com CRM) to identify trends, growth opportunities, and provide actionable insights and recommendations that support the Sales and Marketing strategies.
  • Commercial Quota Setting: Manage sales quota setting processes. Establish and deliver sales quotas for different commercial teams on a timely basis. Contribute to the implementation of sales programs.
  • Commercial Territory Management: Maintain various commercial territories alignments and assist with territory balancing activities with the stakeholders.
  • Sales Forecast: Develop and maintain sales forecasting models to predict future sales performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Reporting Dashboards: Design, develop, and maintain Tableau data pipelines and dashboards on operations and business. The dashboards should provide clear, actionable insight into business metrics, customers, products and sales force, and track performance to target of key business goals. Publish and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to stakeholders on a timely basis.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain deviations from quota, sales plan, and historical performance.
  • Data Management: Build and automate data pipelines and datasets. Perform statistical tests on datasets to determine data quality and integrity. Document datasets and processes, and adhere to best practices.
  • Data Presentation: Create clear and concise presentations to effectively communicate complex data or insights to various stakeholders in a consumable way for decision making. Prepare and present complex statistical and narrative reports with an emphasis placed on detail and accuracy.
  • Revenue Growth: Analyze and synthesize data/information to provide management with recommendations and analyses that support efforts to maximize revenues including analysis of competitors, customers behaviors, and market trends.
  • Sales Targeting: Leverage data wrangling, engineering, and analytics techniques to analyze internal data and external data (e.g., health claims data) to boost our understanding of the medical devices market, identify high-potential customers, or to generate new customer leads.
  • Ad Hoc: Lead ad hoc analytics or data requests, and technical or process improvement projects.
