About the Data Reporting Senior Analyst Opportunity
TMHCC is in also the midst of an IT transformation and is shifting towards a Product-centric operating model. You will be managed by the Head of Data Operations and you may be deployed to our business aligned product teams when they require reporting expertise.
As a Data Operations Analyst you will also be the translator – speaking both the language of the business as well as being fluent in the technical to ensure our Data engineers and architects are fully informed to deliver the perfect solution to business challenges.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with the Head of Data Operations, Product delivery managers, engineers, other analysts, and architects to build, implement and support the Data Operations service that underpins our insurance products
- Analyse the challenges we are trying to solve, engage with stakeholders, and gain an understanding of TMHCC’s business applications and core insurance platforms.
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to understand the data requirements and translate these in to value-adding data solutions
- Ensure all requirements are fully documented as user-stories/features/Epics and proactively ensure that the wider team fully understands what is needed and can be translated into build activities.
- Work closely with our test team to ensure that new requirements are reflected in our automated test harness.
- Assist business in User Acceptance Testing
- When our business have data queries or concern work to understand the issue, assist in troubleshooting to get to the root cause of the issue and either translate back to the engineers for technical resolution or help educate the business user as appropriate.
- Work towards becoming the “Go To” member of the analysis team, guiding and supporting off shore capacity
- Work with your team-mates to mentor and share your business analysis expertise and in turn learn from them technical skills that will further enhance the service we provide to the business.
- Participate in and contribute to Agile meetings throughout each development cycle
- Share the load within the team for the running of Month End mandatory activities in support of the closure or wider financial aspirations.
Requirements:
Essential:
- At least three years working with different business areas within an Insurance company
- Expert Business Requirements Translator! Able to understand sometime vague or ill-defined business requirements and develop these into clear technical requirements for deliveryl
- Data savvy and experienced working with complex data sets
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to extract data across databases, cloud storages, and separate files filled with unstructured data
- Excellent technical analysis skills and confident in working directly with a variety of business stakeholders at different levels in the organisation – from operations assistants through to executives.
- An inquisitive nature. You feel the urge to understand why things are the way they are, and you’re curious enough to question unproven beliefs and assumptions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, present and communicate solutions clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with excellent time management.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Power BI reporting, and Excel modelling.
- Advantageous if you can extend left of the visualisation layer
Desirable:
- Experience of business decision engines
- Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Knowledge of semantic layer tools
- Knowledge and experience of Agile product delivery methodologies within a DevOps environment (e.g., Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP)
- Detailed knowledge of best practice regarding the use of Azure DevOps
