Eneco Energy Trade (EET) is at the heart of Eneco, managing all commodity positions of Eneco. The Senior Data & BI Analyst will report to the Head of Data & AI in the Operations & IT department of EET. This role is linked to business features in the Business Change Management (BCM) process at EET and works in close cooperation with the EET Data Operations Specialist. Furthermore, the Senior Data & BI Analyst actively collaborates with EET business teams to gather the business and IT data & dashboard requirements and work together with business/IT teams to build, maintain, and enhance dashboards. This role also engages with dashboarding initiatives happening within other Eneco departments and in the central IT departments namely CDO and DTS for tooling and best practices.
To summarize, the Senior Data & BI Analyst will collaborate with relevant stakeholders inside and outside EET to create a data and dashboarding infrastructure at EET thereby ensuring reliable and insightful dashboards to mitigate business risks and harness business opportunities.
What you’ll do
Do you have extensive experience as a Data & BI Analyst and want to join a dynamic and innovative organization? You will be instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making through the EET organization by developing intuitive dashboards with the business and IT teams that provide key insights across the organization. Leveraging advanced business intelligence tools such as Power BI or similar, you will assist in designing, maintaining, and optimizing dashboards such as those that track critical performance metrics, and energy market trends, ensuring stakeholders have easy access to actionable data. You will play a key role in establishing the process for dashboard governance by envisaging and implementing a DevOps way of working to capture, refine, and prioritize business requests for building and enhancing dashboards.
Your expertise in insights generation will be vital as you analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities that optimize the operational efficiency of EET processes, particularly in the fast-evolving renewable energy sector. Collaborating with trading teams and cross-functional stakeholders, you will translate business needs into impactful dashboards that support strategy and enhance performance. In addition, you will actively participate in incident management, identifying and addressing data discrepancies or system issues to maintain the integrity of BI tools and underlying data flows to ensure business continuity in reporting and analytics. By combining your technical acumen with a deep understanding of business intelligence best practices, you will help EET remain at the forefront of sustainable energy trading, using data-driven insights to continuously innovate and improve its competitive edge in the market.
Is this about you?
- Minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in Data & BI analytics.
- University degree in a STEM-related field (such as computer science, information technology, etc.).
- Based in and working in the Netherlands in a similar role in a similar business environment (preferably energy markets).
- Solid experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Grafana, etc.
- A good understanding of data warehousing (such as Snowflake) and ETL/ELT processes.
- Able to communicate empathetically with business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written presentation skills in English. Communication skills in Dutch are a pre.
- Possess a customer-friendly disposition and can get a solid understanding of business requirements via collaborative discussions with business teams.
- Possesses an enthusiastic and proactive personality and takes ownership and accountability of the undertaken work.
- Keen interest in new and upcoming technologies, methodologies, and concepts linked to data and dashboarding.
You’ll be responsible for
- Developing and managing the EET dashboarding program and associated governance strategy to improve the reliability and insights generation from the dashboards.
- Ensuring that the dashboarding solutions are set up following the data governance and security frameworks advocated by the Eneco central IT departments as per the federated governance pillar of the Data Mesh framework.
- Engaging with EET and Eneco architects and specialists to build a landscape that meets the current and future dashboarding needs of EET.
- Working together with business and IT teams in the design, build, and maintenance phases of the dashboards.
- Implementing a DevOps way of working to capture, refine, and prioritize business requests for building and enhancing dashboards.
- Establishing a dashboard governance framework to ensure reliable data pipelines and dashboards.
- Building a dashboarding community at EET to upskill the business/IT teams for tool knowledge and best practices.
- Creating a dashboarding vision and roadmap for EET to empower business teams to effectively build and use dashboards.
