The salary range for this job posting is $94,784.00 - $151,654.00 annually + bonus + benefits

While we may prefer a candidate who can work a hybrid or remote schedule and reside near our Columbus, Ohio corporate office, we we will consider candidates who can work remote in any of our listed payroll states.
The position will report to the Senior Vice President, Commercial Lines - Small Business.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred; commensurate experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of seven years’ small business property & casualty insurance experience required.
  • Data analytics experience preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization software (Tableau) preferred.
  • Professional insurance designations relevant to area of expertise desired.
  • Ability to analyze data to form general rules or conclusions.
  • Ability to use relevant information and sound judgment to determine whether processes or decisions comply with regulations or standards.
  • Ability to work, coach, and mentor effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify problems, review related information and to analyze and compare alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches, and to implement solutions and/or make improvements.
  • Superior understanding of the form and content of insurance policies.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills for use in internal team interaction and in collaboration with other business units for information gathering, reporting results, training, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, train and systematically apply regulatory requirements for a multi-state book of business.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Effective organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and work with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of design, implementation and interfaces of current systems and applications.
  • Ability to apply confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Lead efforts to explain data management solutions to audiences of varied technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively in a paperless environment.
  • Provide strong technical leadership, including the ability to effectively:
    o Build personal working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    o Engage leadership as partners to identify, plan and successfully execute data solutions.
    o Engage, guide, and mentor team members throughout the Strategic Business Groups.
    o Build consensus.
    o Define expectations and lead projects toward successful implementation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop data vendor management expertise to lead the small business unit to optimize the utilization of data.
  2. Collaboratively manage and lead data projects – including business requirements and timelines – that impact process, procedure and practices related to the use of data or data integrations.
  3. Work with legal to draft and review data contracts especially as they pertain to estimated utilization, service level agreements, selection of data elements and penalties.
  4. Provide directions to IT, UW, actuary, portal management, and other teams that utilize data captured from a vendor.
  5. Coach, train and mentor strategic business unit staff and other staff on guidelines, standards, and other technical aspects specific to data management, integration, contracts and utilization of data.
  6. Manage the integration and the capturing of data elements to reduce cost, increase hit ratio, and improve accuracy of the data elements.
  7. Influence the organization to best practices for data utilization.
  8. Establish and maintain data vendor relationships to identify new innovations and improve negotiations.
  9. Identify and determine the appropriate data elements to purchase to maximize customer satisfaction, minimize cost and reduce loss ratio.
  10. Develop tools to manage and reduce agency gaming and producer input errors.
  11. Collaborate with data management team to improve the utilization of data in reports.
