ABOUT US

Climate X is a purpose-driven climate adaptation data company revolutionising how the world manages assets, property, and infrastructure. Our SaaS platform, Spectra, helps financial institutions and real estate firms assess future climate risks and their impact on asset valuations. We combine cutting-edge climate projections, remote sensing, and modelling to project the frequency and severity of physical climate risks.
We have recently secured a Series A funding round led by Google Ventures, positioning us for significant growth and innovation in the climate tech space.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong experience in building and maintaining large-scale data processing systems
  • Extensive experience with Python, AWS, Bash, and PostgreSQL in a cloud-based environment
  • Proficiency in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar distributed computing frameworks
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) for processing and analysing large datasets
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
  • Expertise in optimizing database performance and query efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex data-related issues
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally with Technology, Science, and Product teams

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience working with geospatial data and related processing tools
  • Familiarity with time-series data analysis and forecasting techniques
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink)
  • Proficiency in using data visualisation tools for large datasets (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Basic knowledge of climate models, risk assessment methodologies, or financial modelling (bonus)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance data processing pipelines
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure on AWS
  • Architect efficient database schemas for storing and querying large volumes of geospatial and time-series data
  • Optimise data processing to handle large-scale analyses across multiple data sources
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data systems and support product development
  • Evaluate and implement appropriate data engineering tools and technologies
  • Lead the integration of Spectra and Carta, our core products, to enhance our overall data capabilities and product offering
