SENIOR DATA ENGINEERING MANAGER* - MUNICH

The Team You’ll Lead: You’ll be responsible for the Data Engineering team within their Business Intelligence department. Your team will be tasked with:

  • Creating, maintaining, and refining core data pipeline tools, including the Data Warehouse and Data Lake
  • Supporting core pipelines
  • Enabling a DataMesh-based approach to support data-driven applications across teams
  • Collaborating closely with data analytics and data science teams

Their Tech Stack:

  • Java Applications and SDK Development: Microservices on AWS-hosted Kubernetes (EKS), Java/Kotlin SDKs for data transmission to Kafka and Firehose
  • Data Environment: Airflow for scheduling, Data Build Tool (dbt-core) for pipelines, Redshift, Athena, and DuckDB for data interaction
  • Serverless Architecture: Using Serverless Framework and Python for dynamic interactions with data lake
  • Cloud and DevOps: Terraform, Docker, Jenkins
  • Monitoring: ELK, Grafana, Looker, OpsGenie, and custom technologies

Your Role:

  • Lead a high-performing cross-functional team
  • Define team OKRs and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Drive strategic technology decisions
  • Manage cloud budget and resources
  • Lead strategic team-driven projects
  • Mentor engineers and participate in hiring
  • Foster healthy discussions and a positive team culture
  • Collaborate with C-suite executives, product leaders, and external partners

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Lakehouse architectures in AWS or similar setups
  • Technical leadership experience
  • People management skills
  • Dedication to code and data reliability and quality
