JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Data Protection Manager plays a critical part in ensuring The Inspectorate continues to manage and protecting The Planning Inspectorate’s data subjects rights and freedoms and ensuring that all Personal Data processed and stored is managed in line with PINS standards and policies.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual who excels as a team worker and be able to work autonomously and manage their workloads proactively.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a strong commitment to data protection . They should have previous experience in a similar Civil Service role, with some exposure to Information Rights. The main thrust of their role will be around Data Protection. They should be able to lead by example and drive continuous improvement in data protection practices
On a typical day, the Senior Data Protection Manager will:
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to ensure compliance with GDPR and PINS privacy policies.
- Develop and implement data protection policies and frameworks.
- Provide expert advice on data protection matters to internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver training programs on data protection and privacy.
- Monitor and manage data protection risks, ensuring that all personal data is processed in line with PINS standards.
- Collaborate with PINS teams to promote a culture of data protection and privacy.
Other scheduled activities are,:
- Review and update data protection policies and procedures.
- Analyse data protection incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare reports on data protection activities and compliance status.
- Engage with stakeholders to address data protection concerns and provide guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Data Protection qualification e.g. ISEB in Data Protection
TECHNICAL SKILLS
We’ll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
- Solid and significant knowledge or UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 and other privacy legislation, including Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations.
- Using MS Purview for data governance and risk management.
