Would you like to drive the future of Apple’s products, applications, and platform while having the unique opportunity to impact some of the most far-reaching software in the world? The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) organization owns the development and innovation on Apple’s cloud-centric products and experiences for users all over the world, including iCloud+, Photos, Mail, Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Notes, etc. We are the foundation on which Apple’s software developers build the products that our customers love. Our multi-disciplinary data team plays a fundamental role in this mission by partnering closely with product, engineering, and business teams to develop a culture of leveraging data to inform and shape our strategy.

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an accomplished data science and analytics leader, who has experience managing a team of individual contributors with a diverse range of skills - spanning product analytics, exploratory analyses, experimentation, modeled causal inference, and reporting. Across all methods and skills, the overarching goal is always to improve decision-making for iCloud through the use of data. This role partners closely with business and product teams across ASE. We’re looking for someone who has: - Experience hiring and leading high-caliber, data-focused teams with diverse technical backgrounds; - Experience partnering with business, product and engineering teams to define project roadmaps and integrate metrics and analytics into the broader engineering plans; - The willingness and ability to get hands-on with the data, driving projects forward and unblocking the team when necessary; - A track record of applying statistics and experimentation to business areas, and influencing product decisions; - The ability to autonomously identify opportunities and investment areas for the larger iCloud Data organization, that lead to better outcomes for iCloud; - Experience building and fostering an inclusive team culture.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and experience communicating technical concepts to senior executive audiences in order to influence decisions with data.
  • Ability to think about data in terms of statistical distributions and have a big enough analytics toolbox (e.g. Statistics, Machine Learning) to know how to find patterns in data, identify targets for performance, and identify sources of variance about those targets.
  • Self-motivated and curious with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities, and an innate drive to improve how things work.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
