Role Summary:
Alaska Airlines is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic Data Science team. In this pivotal role, you will translate strategic business objectives into advanced AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Operations Research (OR) models, driving enhancements across system operations, flight operations, inflight services, maintenance and engineering, airport operations, scheduling, network planning, marketing, and revenue management. As an individual contributor, you will leverage your extensive expertise in statistics, machine learning, and optimization techniques to address and solve complex business challenges, developing and implementing sophisticated models that provide actionable insights and foster data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Key Duties:

  • Design and implement machine learning solutions to drive business decisions and create value for Alaska Airlines.
  • Creates detailed action plans, key performance indicators, and progress metrics.
  • Exercises considerable latitude and initiative to improve processes across the company in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Partner with data engineers to drive the full data lifecycle, including data collection, data mining, data integration, data analysis, extracting insights, and results visualization.
  • Investigates and combines new and disparate large-scale data sources to extend the data-driven business process.
  • Develop and implement systems and technology to produce decision support tools that enable leaders and system practitioners to take strategic action in a dynamic, competitive environment.
  • Researches new data sources and analytical tools to enhance the data-driven business process.
  • Influences and networks across stakeholders and ITS on the integration and support of business systems.
  • Mentors and supports the development of other analysts throughout the company, acting as an ambassador to other analyst teams.
