We are looking for a highly technical and organized Senior Data Scientist and Assessment Scoring Engineer to design, develop and manage multiple scoring solutions across our suite of assessment tools. The candidate must be an expert in code development using R, be highly numerical with a strong background in statistics, and have significant experience managing code bases in Git. Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Docker and experience with Azure are desirable.
The job holder will likely help scope, shape, and deliver advanced client analytics projects, drawing on both scalable and custom analytical approaches to address key talent/people-related challenges. The individual needs to be highly analytical, with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
The Senior Data Scientist and Assessment Scoring Engineer will design, develop and manage our business-critical scoring code base. Our tools are version-controlled using Git, and experience in Azure is highly desirable. The successful candidate will likely be involved in advanced AI/ML projects and develop prototype analytics solutions using tools such as R Shiny, Python Streamlit, and Power BI. A continued focus for our team is to incubate highly innovative solutions while always looking for opportunities to standardize and scale these such that we can deliver high impact, repeatable solutions with maximum efficiency. Ideally, the candidate will also have knowledge or experience with tools that deploy advanced data solutions, such as Docker containerization, or Jenkins.
The job holder needs a strong background in data science, statistical analysis, and an aptitude for creative thinking and problem-solving. Success in the role will require developing a deep understanding of client issues, working collaboratively with our advisory teams and Data Scientists, defining the right questions to ask, identifying the right data and analytic methods to answer the questions, and translating complex data into elegant, powerful stories that resonate with clients. The job holder should have a passion for and focus on identifying the differentiators of individual and organizational performance through data, and experience in psychometric-based assessment tools and scoring is highly desirable.
The jobholder needs to be comfortable working with highly complex and varied data sets, leading on the creation and management of an array of complex scoring services, and be able to multi-task and manage multiple complex demands.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 + years’ experience in data mining and manipulation, analyzing data, and producing reports; 3+ years’ experience of internal or external consulting experience preferred.
  • Significant experience in developing code in R, including package development.
  • Proven expertise with Git to version control source code.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
  • Experience working in the Azure cloud environment.
  • Experience working in a software development team environment and using coding development best practices.
  • Proven ability to quickly understand existing code base and be able to contribute to it efficiently and effectively.
  • Proven expertise in identifying, isolating, and rectifying errors in complex code.
  • Proven ability to create and run unit tests.
  • Strong background in statistics/mathematics, with experience in either research & design of novel algorithms, or with the building and deployment of mathematical models.
  • Experience developing R Shiny applications.
  • Experience coding using Python.
  • Fast and nimble learner, able to learn on the job.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a team, across the business, and build strong relationships.
  • Experience with personality or talent-related assessments and related data.
  • Understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence libraries and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of standard psychometric models, including those used in classical test theory and item response theory highly preferred.
  • Experience with Docker platform preferred.
  • PowerBI with Data Analysis Expressions experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills highly preferred.

EDUCATION

  • The ideal candidate will likely have a degree in Data Science, Psychology/Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, People Analytics, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, or Informatics/Information Systems.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scoring: Play a lead role in the design, development, QA, maintenance and management of our suite of scoring services covering psychometric-based self-assessments, cognitive tests, multi-rater tools, and integrated assessment solutions.
  • Client-Supported Data Science Projects: Lead and run advanced client analytics projects as needed. This might include AI/ML and the development of advanced models.
  • Client Analytics Portal: Contribute to the management and maintenance of the Client Analytics Portal, which houses multiple apps covering solutions to score, analyze and report out on talent-related data.
  • Client Analytics Applications: Contribute to the development and maintenance of R Shiny or Python Streamlit applications that generate standardized and scalable reports for clients.
  • Analytics Project Leadership: Oversee and/or perform analytics work from the beginning of the analytics workstream to delivering the final analytics report/presentation to the client.
  • Storytelling Mindset: Extract and elevate the “so-what,” insights, and actionable recommendations from all the numbers by closely understanding the client business needs and integrating knowledge from subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Documentation and Enablement: Document scoring algorithms and data flows. Share results and approaches with data scientists and other internal stakeholders.

ADDTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay up to date with the latest research and industry trends in machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) and evaluate their potential application to improve text analytics capabilities. Apply machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex problems in text analytics, including but not limited to sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text classification, and information extraction.
  • Conduct foundational analytics to provide insights that are broadly applicable across client organizations, e.g. regional trends, cross-client evaluation metrics, and economic changes that are impacting the workforce (e.g., Artificial Intelligence).
