THE POSITION

Are you a passionate and talented Data Scientist looking to make a real impact? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team in Central Data Science (CDS), where you will be empowered to work at the innovative edge of Boehringer Ingelheim and collaborate closely with all business units.
As a Data Scientist, you will use your expertise in machine learning and data science applied to the most impactful use-cases to help us achieving our goals and ultimately contribute to delivering medicines more efficiently to humans and animals.
The position is based in either Ingelheim or Biberach. Depending on your skills and qualification, this position can be filled as senior or intermediate Data Scientist. So, if you are ready to embrace a modern and exciting work environment, we can’t wait to hear from you!
This position is part time eligible with 80%.

REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in data science, mathematics, physics, other natural sciences, or (business-) informatics, advanced scientific degree desirable, e.g. PhD or MD
• Working experience in data science and good understanding of key processes in own organization and ability to communicate effectively with specialists in own and business organization
• Expert in implementing data science solutions with high analytical quality by integrating methods from mathematics, statistics, and probabilistic modeling, using specialized programming languages, common development tools and respective techniques
• Hands-on experience with Python programming and common ML libraries
• Familiar with libraries for deep learning, like pytorch, tensorflow or similiar for training, fine-tuning, and optimizing machine learning models
• Ideally, experience deploying models with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
• Expertise in business domains relevant for the pharma industry (e.g. Chemistry, Pharmacology, Medicine-/Bioinformatics) desirable
• Leading activities and projects demonstrating solid project/product management skills
• Analytical mindset and team-player attitude
• Fluent in English, German language skills are beneficial

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST:

• Few years of relevant working experience in the data science domain
• Good overview on Machine Learning methods and new developments, e.g., Transformers, CNNs, LLMs, GNNs and Diffusion models
• Experience in developing multi-dimensional concepts for problem solving and leading complex activities with multiple stakeholder groups
• Excellent knowledge in using advanced methods in data science like analytical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and statistical methods
• Ability to understand, challenge and optimize business and IT processes and come up with alternative and innovative solutionsA strong track record in relevant publications in (applied) Machine Learning
