ABOUT HOKODO
We’re an international and diverse team, based in London, Vilnius and Paris, working to modernise B2B payments.
- Our Digital Trade Credit solution enables merchants to offer credit terms to their business customers instantly, resulting in a 40% average increase in revenue for integrated merchants.
- We are scaling rapidly across Western Europe, with a list of stellar clients and have raised a total of over $50 million to support our mission.
- Join us in our efforts, as we have already made good progress with 50,000+ businesses regularly using Hokodo, but need your support to take us to the next level!
What you’ll be doing - If you get excited by the following, this is the role for you.
You will be working alongside the Tech, Operations, Credit, and Fraud teams to build machine learning models that optimise our risk strategy, allowing us to deliver the most affordable product to our customers. As part of the Data Science team, you will be taking part in missions such as:
- Developing our pricing and risk underwriting algorithms for product launch, built off large population-level datasets as well as proprietary behavioural and repayment data
- Developing LLM proof of concepts and pilots in supporting risk decisions or the wider business
- Integrating external data sources for the purpose of obtaining training data, and for use in production scoring
- Monitoring the performance of our models, identifying potential data drifts, technical issues and refreshing existing models
- Developing early insights as historical datasets grow - for example, through the application of machine learning to credit default prediction
- Owning the development of our internal tooling and ML Ops practices, including monitoring, pipeline versioning, reproducibility, packaging and deployment
- Conducting research to understand the predictive power of alternative data sources such as Opencorporates; Sanctions databases; or external providers of sentiment analysis
OUR TECH STACK
- Python and its scientific ecosystem (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn)
- Redshift, DBT and AWS DMS for our data warehouse
- Django REST framework
- PostgreSQL for the database
- AWS for the infrastructure
Who we’re looking for - At Hokodo, we prioritise hiring individuals who share our mission and values, and possess the right attitudes and behaviours for success. While some of the listed requirements may be important, don’t worry if you don’t meet all of them, we’d still like to hear from you.
In light of these responsibilities, we’re looking for a candidate who has:
- Significant experience in applying data science and machine learning techniques to large data sets (from proof of concept to production)
- Strong quantitative analytical skills and programming experience in Python, in particular its scientific stack (pandas, scikit-learn) and related Data Science tooling such as DVC
- Good verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate complex technical challenges to non technical audience - English is a must have, other European languages could prove useful as well
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and tech driven startup environment where change is constant
- Organised and methodical with the ability to multi-task and take initiative
- Can-do and positive attitude, curious, creative and on the lookout for new ideas and methods

At its core, our business is about helping B2B merchants to sell to as many customers as possible, while avoiding fraudulent transactions and uncreditworthy buyers. We do this by developing proprietary algorithms as a competitive advantage.
Location
We would like you to work from our office in London, Paris or Vilnius two days per week, joining our team of dedicated professionals and making your mark on the world of B2B e-commerce.
In light of these responsibilities, we’re looking for a candidate who has:
