JOB SUMMARY

Edgio is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to assist in the execution of tactical and strategic operational infrastructure initiatives by building and managing complex computing systems and processes that facilitate the introduction of new products and services while allowing existing services to scale. The Senior Database Engineer also assists in maintaining the operational aspects of Edgio’s platforms and acts as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting of systems issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years’ experience with MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra in enterprise settings.
  • 3-5 years of Linux Systems Administration and Version Control experience.
  • Proficiency in Shell scripting and scripting languages like Python, Perl, Ruby, or PHP.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Systems like Puppet, Chef, or SALT.
  • Familiarity with MySQL HA/Clustering solutions and open-source messaging systems preferred.
  • Collaborative approach in a fast-paced environment, providing end-to-end ownership.
  • Ability to implement and maintain complex datastores, along with knowledge of release engineering processes.
  • Excellent coordination, planning, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and NoSQL/Big Data platforms preferred.Availability for 24/7 on-call rotation and occasional travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and troubleshoot database issues, conducting root cause analysis.
  • Maintain environment synchronization, backup procedures, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop team competencies aligned with architectural standards.
  • Drive operational enhancements and identify gaps for improvements.
  • Evaluate and enhance release processes and tools.
  • Collaborate with developers and Engineering groups on release and change management.
  • Implement operational changes prior to release, including monitoring and documentation.
  • Proactively monitor systems for minimal disruption, including failure detection and data capture.
  • Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities.Assist in implementing and enforcing security policies, managing user profiles.
