GenesisCare is now looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our team, this role is responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, and maintaining production databases. The role ensures data availability through performance tuning and oversees database policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include safeguarding the integrity and availability of databases and associated software.
On offer is a full-time role working remotely.
More specifically, you will:
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
- Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
- Support creation of required reports in response to business user needs.
- Perform database transaction and security audits.
- Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
- Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use.
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
- Work with application staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that technology solutions meet their needs.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT function and broader organisation.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- At least 10 years of experience in database management.
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Are focused on supporting the needs of patients.
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
- A Customer service focus, attention to detail and can adapt as required.
- Well-developed time management skills.
- A self-motivated approach and able to solve technical and business-related problems.
- The ability to work autonomously and see jobs through to completion.
- The Understanding of patient management and clinical workflows.
- A respectful, courteous approach and be presentable.
- The ability to think out of the box & innovate when required.
- The ability to work cooperatively within a team, exchange information and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.
- The capacity to occasionally travel (including interstate and overseas) and work outside of standard hours.
