In 2014, after 8 years of intensive software development, we launched the world’s most advanced validation software to help revolutionize the speed, precision, transparency and intelligence of validation in the Life Sciences sector. The solution is now used by some of the world’s leading Life Sciences companies.
As Kneat continues to expand, we are looking for an enthusiastic Senior DBA to join our Saas Operations Team.
Position Summary:
This Senior DBA role will be responsible for ensuring the optimum performance of the SQL Server database platforms that underpin Kneat’s SaaS solution.
In addition to the day-to-day maintenance of the database infrastructure the Senior DBA will be responsible for driving initiatives to improve the resiliency of the platform and pairing with the Kneat development teams to optimise the performance of the Kneat Gx application.
We are looking for a proven highly competent and highly motivated Senior SQL Server DBA in this role.

Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include:

  • Database Management: Administer and maintain Kneat’s cloud-based SQL server platforms.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, analyze slow queries, suggest query optimizations, and optimize database performance using best for maximum efficiency and speed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support database-related application development, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Security: Implement and enforce database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • High Availability: Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using cloud provider services to ensure continuous database operations.
  • Migration: Plan and execute database migrations to and from cloud environments with minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
  • Automation: Develop and implement scripts and automation tools for routine database administration tasks.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to database management and security.

Position Requirements:

We are looking for a person that has:

  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience with DB replication, Disaster Recovery and Database load testing.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Extensive knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
  • Proven track record of partnering with Development team to review and optimize product code.
  • Self-starter, able to take ownership of initiatives/problems and to drive them through to conclusion.
  • Extensive knowledge of T-SQL and scripting (including PowerShell).
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations in a virtualised environment.
  • Good communication and documentation skills are essential.
  • Experience mentoring junior DBA team members.

Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:

  • Experience with AWS-native data tooling such as Redshift, QuickSight and Glue.
  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana for monitoring SQL environments.
  • Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP, MVP
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus
