JOB SUMMARY

The Mission Delivery Unit (MDU) has been established as an integral part of central government, acting as the guardian of the centre’s approach to Mission-led government, driving progress on priorities and building capacity to facilitate successful delivery of the Government’s ambitious agenda for the people of this country. The MDU will work with partners across Whitehall to deliver national renewal and change across the Prime Minister’s five missions: Kickstart economic growth; Make Britain a clean energy superpower; Take back our streets; Break down barriers to opportunity; Build an NHS fit for the future.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The jobholder will work in the Growth Mission team of the Mission Delivery Unit, drawing on their experience in delivering for citizens to tackle the most pressing problems of our time, right in the heart of government.
This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating role, providing an unparalleled opportunity to combine delivery experience with an ability to influence the most powerful decision makers in the country, including the Prime Minister, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
The jobholder will have a unique opportunity to have a high and far-reaching impact on citizens and frontline partners across the UK. They will, with the rest of the Growth Mission team, work with HM Treasury to deliver on the government’s mission to kickstart economic growth.

As Senior Delivery Adviser in the Growth Mission team, your responsibilities would include:

  • Using strong leadership skills to empower, energise and engage those across government with responsibility for delivering the Mission.
  • Working closely with HM Treasury, other government departments, and external partners in the delivery chain to define success and advise on ambitious but achievable delivery planning.
  • Collaborating with HM Treasury and other departments to identify, structure and solve delivery challenges and to build creative solutions.
  • Working closely with HM Treasury and other departments to rigorously and objectively assess delivery performance, drawing on quantitative and qualitative evidence to appraise whether performance is on track or at risk, and why this is the case.
  • Persuasively negotiating with senior stakeholders across and beyond government to gain buy-in for solutions and drive the best outcome for citizens.
  • Horizon scanning for potential future delivery issues, ensuring early intervention.
  • Acting as a deputy for the Deputy Director as required.
  • Taking a leadership role within the Mission Delivery Unit, driving corporate workstreams to ensure the Unit is a great place to work.

You will work alongside fantastic and capable analysts and data scientists who will help you crunch the numbers, track performance and present this in compelling ways. All our work is underpinned by an analytical rigour however, and you will need to be comfortable with using numbers to be successful.
