Description:
Oxfordshire Community Dental Service is looking to recruit a Senior Dental Officer to provide dental treatment to special care adults and children using a variety of treatment modalities, and to provide leadership and management at Banbury Dental Clinic in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.
Oxfordshire Community Dental Service provides countywide special care and paediatric dentistry to the local population, operating from multiple sites and delivering care via a wide range of treatment modalities including sedation and general anaesthesia.
The service is part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust which is a large multi-service trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinician with excellent interpersonal skills who wishes to join an extensive team.
You will provide a comprehensive range of high quality dental care for special care children and adults, including provision of treatment under sedation, general anaesthesia and domiciliary care.
In addition you will support the Senior Management Team and undertake managerial roles. You will assume a leadership role in a clinical area and/or a geographical locality/team as appropriate.
Full registration with the General Dental Council and a current performer number are essential for post.
A full driving licence is essential.

To provide high quality and appropriate routine and emergency oral healthcare to patients.
Provision of dental care for special care children and adults including those who are medically compromised.
To work within current local and national guidelines for providing dental care.
To be involved in the paediatric dental outpatient general anaesthesia service.
To provide care for homeless persons.
To provide domiciliary care for patients who are unable to access the dental clinics.
To participate in any screening, epidemiology and other dental public health activities that the service provides.
Liaise with colleagues in hospitals, primary care and local authorities to ensure and improve the quality of patient care.
To work collaboratively and support the various teams and staff in Oxfordshire Community Dental Service including dental therapist and Health Improvement Practitioners.
Manage the day to day operations and staff of clinics in liaison with the other Senior Dental Officers/Lead Clinicians/ Specialists.
To assume a leadership role in a clinical area and/or a geographical locality/team as appropriate
To take an active role in conjunction with other Senior Clinical colleagues in the teaching of clinical skills to other members of the dental team as appropriate.
Support the senior management team as required.
Monitor and update policy, taking account of existing Trust policies and liaising with other Senior Dental Officers/Lead Clinicians/Specialists.
Undertake training as required by the Trusts and as needed to maintain standards of clinical practice.
Take part in all aspects of clinical governance, including GDC lifelong learning, clinical audit, peer review and clinical supervision.
Maintain close working relationships with other disciplines as related to these duties.
Undertake responsibility for a given area of clinical practice including the coordination and management duties involved in that particular area.
Be responsible for data collection and reports as required for the Oxfordshire Community Dental Service.
