About the role

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

  • Provide high quality general dental practitioner oral health services to the eligible population, with referral of patients to an appropriate specialist where required.
  • Have advanced clinical skills, competence, and experience to provide the full range of clinical procedures within the general dental scope of practice, including complicated dental extractions, and some minor oral surgical procedures.
  • Provide high level professional advice and information and liaise effectively with clients and their families, with members of the multidisciplinary team and with other health professionals, internal and external stakeholders to enable efficient and improved dental services.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support, and advice to the Oral Health Services clinicians. Accept referrals from dentists, especially for complex cases.
  • Provide mentoring, tutoring and guidance to student dentists, dentists, dental prosthetists and dental/oral health therapists.
  • Provide leadership and direction within the oral health team.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to supervise and support a cohesive team of dental and oral health therapy advanced scope students.
  • Ensure services are provided using an integrated evidence-based team dentistry model and approach.
  • Participate in service delivery and quality improvement activities within scope of practice, at the local service delivery area.
  • Maintain and apply effective interpersonal skills to facilitate the provision of a friendly, caring environment for the treatment of patients/clients.
  • Practically support the Oral Health Services Management team in their responsibility to provide an efficient oral health care service within MNOHS.
  • Facilitate education and professional development for members of the oral health team.
  • Actively participate and work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain professional standards and actively pursue relevant continuing professional development.
