Description:
MacTaggart Scott are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer (Analysis) as part of the Engineering Design department.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant Apprenticeship with HNC.
- Technical expertise in static and transient finite element analysis.
- Proven track record of verification and validation of analysis undertaken through activities such as empirical data, traditional hand calculations, material testing, etc.
- A flair for problem solving and innovation, a flexible approach to work activities.
- Track record of creating and checking technical documentation.
- Microsoft Office skills.
Responsibilities:
ROLE:
This role reports directly into the Principal Engineer. The purpose of the role is to produce high quality analysis with appropriate verification and validation, along with creating supporting technical documentation.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for delivering high quality analysis for the projects they work on, bringing specialist knowledge in static and transient structural and thermal finite element analysis.
- Develop analysis methodologies and plans with the appropriate Project Engineers to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to find solutions to design challenges identified through analysis undertaken.
- Actively manage the company’s analysis tools with support from the IT Department, keeping the tools up to date and exploring additional tools that would benefit the analysis capabilities and the products supplied by the company.
- Organise and present internal Peer Reviews.
- Create analysis work packages for other Design Engineers.
- Authorised to create or check analysis deliverables.
