Description:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER – NUCLEAR PROCESS:

  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation and maintenance of pressure/pipework systems
  • Knowledge of the design lifecycle
  • Knowledge of the general regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to nuclear process and pressure system design
  • Knowledge of project specification, planning and budgeting

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER – NUCLEAR PROCESS:

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of an HND/FdSc/FdEng or equivalent in a mechanical/process engineering discipline and be professionally registered with an engineering institution.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be required to lead and support a team in providing their Design and Technical Authority responsibilities to the business.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical engineering support and advice, and lead design activities relating to process engineering supporting dockyard facilities. This includes the maintenance and control of modifications to the design intent of nuclear process plant and equipment across DRDs Nuclear Licensed Site and the MOD’s Authorised Site.

  • Management and development of a small team of Design Engineers
  • Development and delivery of designs in accordance with the design process (Start-up, Concept, Scheme, Detailed and Implementation phases)
  • Managing the production, checking and approval of technical documentation and drawings
  • Leading engineering analyses including calculations, component structural analysis and system fluid flow simulation/analysis.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
