Description:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project is a major infrastructure programme for a mixed-use development aiming to be a global landmark recognized for its unique vision and position as an authentic destination in Riyadh. The community will be a distinct, self-sustaining hub for Riyadh offering several iconic assets. KBR is providing Project Management Consultancy services in project planning, controls, design and engineering management, and implementation of the development and early works packages.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • BSc, engineering, architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 15 years overall experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 5 years working in Middle East
  • Experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities
  • Knowledge of operational aspects of civil & infrastructure projects including vertical & horizontal assets with experience in construction management and practice
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • A high standard of spoken and written English should be a requirement
  • User of MS Office

Responsibilities:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of the asset design production process to ensure the overall design is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of program’s strategic objectives.
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to manage the design and its approval, across the project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage a detailed project plan, as part of the Project Management Plan, for the design phases of the program.
  • Manage the day-to-day design monitoring activities and resources and actively participate in the design team meetings.
  • Ensure that all design related project KPIs, targets, directions and instructions are communicated to all relevant project stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • Provide status reporting regarding design milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the design documentation
  • Confirm that the Scope of Work to achieve the project objectives is understood and agreed by all relevant parties and that ‘scope gaps’ are identified and addressed with the Client and relevant parties.
  • Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise
  • Ensure the design process recognizes current KSA legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate.
  • Manage the Design Review process.
  • Ensure that designs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
  • Manage design issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline program
  • Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques
  • Manage and train junior members.

The Senior Design Manager will be responsible for the management of multiple design packages within the following asset typology:

  • Iconic
  • Hospitality
  • Public Realm
  • Residential/Commercia
