Description:
We’re looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our utilities arm of Kier called Natural Resources, working hybrid from home, office and across sites in the Thames Valley region.

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Design Manager you’ll be responsible for ensuring technically complaint, cost effective, carbon and water considerate solutions are developed in the concept / detailed design phase. You’ll ensure that the schemes, as a minimum meet the Client’s AMP objectives and regulatory commitment with respect to both performance and programme, this shall deliver optimum cost benefit for Client and where possible outperform regulatory allowances. As a strategic partner to Thames Water for AMP7 and AMP8 on Capital Frameworks, the work will carry out upgrade and resilience works to wastewater treatment works on the Thames portfolio, known as Wastewater Asset Assurance Programme (WAAP).
Your day to day will include:
- Performance managing the design team on time, cost, quality and health and safety; including agreeing and monitoring targets and provide feedback.
- Providing effective management of Kier design partners, through the chairing of technical design calls and managing of the actions and outputs of said meetings.
- Inputting to and managing the project programmes for design, understanding the importance of task planning and short interval control in the context of the wider project planning.
- Working with the Kier Project Engineers to carry out technical design reviews and manage the outputs of these reviews via the design review register to the allocated design partner.
- Reporting on and forecasting design costs, contributing to the monthly reporting cycle.
This role of Senior Design Manager is great for you if you have:
- Proven background in a similar Design Manager or Principal Engineer role.
- Experience working on design for major civils projects.
- BEng/MEng qualified Electrical or Mechanical engineer
