We are looking for a Senior Apparel Designer to work closely with our Design Manager and creative team and lead your own high volume product area and team. As a Senior Designer at boohoo you’ll be responsible for designing and developing ranges in line with current trends, customer profiles and brand direction, continually looking outside the box for new designs. You will lead the team and shape a commercial and trend driven range with your Senior Buyer and Senior Merch counterparts; presenting back to the SLT for sign off.
This role is very creative, you must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the brand/customer profile with a strong commercial eye and also deputise for the Design Manager and mentor junior team members.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Oversee sub teams within the design structure. This will include helping to manage and develop the team within.
  • Uses leadership skills to support with the motivation and people management of the team.
  • Plan and execute departmental KPI’s and ensure adequate tracking and controls are in place to meet budgets and targets. Continuously strive to improve best practise and processes.
  • Facilitate pre-meetings with relevant team members ahead of director sign off meetings
  • Reports and effectively communicates all key information to Designers and product teams.
  • Deputise in director meetings in the absence of the Head of Design.
  • Liaises with the other key areas within the business in order to land key trend lead products at the highest level.
  • Review the marketplace, work with senior buying, QA and supplier base to develop new products that meet anticipated demand of customer base and produce and innovative and profitable product range.
  • Consistently bring ideas and forward-thinking projects to your manager with an ability to execute them at a high level using your resources.
  • Carrying out online comparative shopping to develop and maintain knowledge of the current competitive marketplace.
  • Have an increasing knowledge and understanding of trading on all departments with your area you are required to oversee.
  • Manages and ensures departmental critical path achieved.
  • Embrace the opportunity to take on additional responsibility through departmental / companywide projects.
  • Supporting management to build a well functioned team
  • Implement trading and profitability information into the design function
