Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to our sustained growth, we are currently seeking a skilled Senior Designer with hands-on experience on projects ranging from conceptual design to detailed engineering. This position reports directly to the Drawing Officer Manager and involves working on a diverse array of projects across the Energy, Chemicals and Mineral Processing industries. You’ll be involved in the entire design process, from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Piping-Mechanical-Structural expertise.
JOB SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepare detailed design drawings of plant, equipment, services or other structures as directed.
- Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from plans, sketches or other design/specification data.
- Direct the work of both detail and design drafters and ensure the drawings are in accordance with plans to conform to the specifications supplied.
- Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or government compliance requirements as appropriate.
- Regular maintenance of drafting TO DO lists.
- Contribute to periodic reporting e.g. Project progress; resource requirements, Project budget versus cost, priorities, allocation of work, team needs.
- Ensure checking and review processes are completed. Review designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes, Australian / International Standards and Sedgman Standards.
- Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design.
- Upkeep of drawing list and percentage complete status.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in design/consultancy/operational environment.
- Discipline based Autodesk suite of products.
- Coal and/or Metals industry experience.
- Experience in heavy industry environment.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Skills in MS Office suite.
