QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Bachelor of Commerce in Decision Science and Management Information Systems and four to seven years of experience in application systems design and development, programming and analysis.
  • Experience working with end-users, and developing and implementing solutions to meet their needs
  • Expertise with PeopleSoft Development Technologies (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Broker, SQR, Component Interfaces, BI Publisher, Application Packages).
  • Knowledge of PeopleTools 8.59+.
  • Expertise with Java, C++, Cobol and web development languages such as ASP JSP, HTML, and XML, XML Schema. Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Web Application Description Language (WADL), Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) standard.
  • Expertise in database access methodology and database structures, Oracle and SQL.
  • Good written and spoken English (Level 4: Give and understand complex explanations, hypothetical questions, or abstract ideas). French conversational and writing skills considered an asset..
  • Highly organized multitasker who works well under pressure and short deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake modifications to the system to respond to clients’ changing needs.
  • Review and coordinates the distribution and turnaround of support tickets and bug tracking of development items with team.
  • Provide support to end-users from different services and faculties regarding the Campus Solutions product and other student systems.
  • Develops new application software to address new requirements that are mandated by the University.
  • Coordinate testing and approval of system changes for each project with systems analyst and other required team members.
  • Conduct code reviews of team’s work to ensure quality and adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate, lead and represent the development team in planning sessions for major projects and upgrades.
  • Perform enterprise analysis including solution scope, business case, risks, impact.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the development team, particularly for complex issues where assistance is needed. Mentor and guide other team members, ensuring their growth and development as required.
  • Represent development team when coordinating with PeopleSoft Administration Team and SIS Planning and Support Office.
  • Actively participates in meetings with representatives from different services, faculties, and external organizations. Organizes and chairs related meetings when required.
  • Lead system release activities, participating in upgrades and evaluations as required.
  • Review, configure and customize modules according to design specifications.
  • Perform other tasks in support of the unit.
