- $110,115 - $120,760 + 15.4% super
- Brisbane or Melbourne preferred; all Bureau capital city locations will be considered
The IT Applications team within the Application Operational Services section is accountable for providing 24x7 critical ongoing support and preventative maintenance for applications supporting the Weather (including Aviation and Community Services) and Climate sectors. We aim to deliver an exceptional customer experience for our colleagues and customers by providing specialised expertise and support.
The occupant of this position will join a team of IT professionals responsible for development, configuration, deployment and support of Visual Weather and Panther for key users. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in developing and supporting complex meteorological or GIS applications using python, shell scripts, HTML, XML and Linux. Highly desirable skills include web application development and support, php, pandas, Apache, and APIs as well as knowledge of Amazon Web Services. A basic understanding of testing methodologies and software packaging tools will also be highly regarded.
Excellent technical analysis, problem solving, communication and teamwork skills are required, as well as flexibility and a willingness to learn new technologies. The occupant will be involved with interactions with application and system vendors as well as other technical teams and forecasting experts across the Bureau.
