Purpose:
As the Senior Development Engineer, Duvernay, you will be responsible for optimizing the development and performance of the company’s oil and gas assets in a safe and efficient manner by applying your engineering skills and experience. You will also lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify, design, and implement development projects that enhance the value and profitability of the company’s portfolio. You will have the opportunity to use your technical knowledge and creativity to solve complex engineering problems and deliver cost-effective solutions for the company’s current and future operations.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Plan, evaluate and carry out your asset development with attention to detail on capital and production targets
  • Find and develop new opportunities and strategies within the asset to enhance value (i.e. enhanced completions, infrastructure optimization, spacing review)
  • Work closely with field operations and production engineering staff to optimize existing infrastructure to handle base and growth volumes
  • Focus on increasing recovery factors through pad optimization, completion design, artificial lift selection and improved technology.
  • Collaborate with Completions and Reservoir engineers on frac design parameters and pad optimization
  • Evaluate assets for A&D opportunities and crown land sales with a focus on high quality assets that fit the current development plan
  • Provide technical mentorship to the Duvernay Development Engineering team
  • Effective presentation/communication skills and ability to demonstrate technical work to leadership in a prompt and clear way

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Engineering degree from a university and current APEGA membership
  • At least 10 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, Duvernay/Montney experience an asset
  • Prior field experience in the Oil and Gas Industry would be beneficial
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in ValNav, Aucerna Execute, Verdazo, Accumap, Enersight and PowerBi would be helpful
  • Pragmatic and self-motivated with a business oriented, entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to be agile and pivot when necessary
  • Team player who likes learning and contributing to team goals while showing professionalism and integrity
  • Self-starter, must be well organized, able to multi-task, and prioritize different projects as the business needs evolve
