Campfire Circle has offered healing through happiness for thousands of kids and families affected by childhood cancer since 1983. It’s where kids can be kids, and families can be families—engaging in camp-inspired community, in-hospital, and overnight camp programs, at no cost to them. As a privately funded organization, Campfire Circle donors make thousands of life-changing experiences possible for Campers throughout the year, all across Ontario.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Campfire Circle is currently seeking a Senior Development Officer, Corporate & Community Partnerships. Reporting to the Director, Corporate & Community Partnerships, the SDO, Corporate & Community Partnerships will build and manage a diverse portfolio of donors and prospects from across Southwestern Ontario, including corporate partners, community groups, service clubs and individuals. They will be responsible for securing new major gifts and partnerships ($5K - $100K) and supporting local community event organizers, as assigned, to achieve fundraising goals through the development and implementation of cultivation and stewardship tactics for their pipeline of prospects and donors.
The incumbent will also be responsible for engagement of assigned local communities and organizations to increase awareness of Campfire Circle across Ontario, including leading the service club strategy.
The key accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Criteria:
a) A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
b) Minimum 5-7 years of experience in developing and implementing personalized donor engagement strategies, with a proven track record of securing gifts of $25,000+
c) Proven track record of building identifying prospective donors, partners and community groups and building new relationships to raise awareness and funds
d) Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, donors, fundraisers and volunteers
e) Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
f) A proven ability to work independently with the flexibility to take on a wide variety of assigned duties and projects
g) A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with senior level volunteers
h) A demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines and work under the pressure of time constraints
i) Demonstrated experience monitoring and adhering to a budget and business plan
j) Detail oriented with great organizational skills
k) Experience with community fundraising and service groups is an asset
l) Ability to travel throughout Ontario for donor meetings and events
m) Ability to effectively use MS Office suite software at an intermediate level
n) Strong and proven CRM skills and experience working with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising databases
o) Clear police reference check and vulnerable sector screening
p) Current G2 or G class driver’s license and the ability to be covered by camp’s insurance policy.
In accordance with our mandate of creating a caring and safe environment for ill children and their families, we require that all staff must provide an attestation to having received their childhood vaccinations, and confirmation of a negative result in a two-step Tuberculosis ("TB") testing series. Seasonal boosters against Influenza and the most recent circulating strain of COVID are strongly encouraged. All staff must provide an updated Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Screening. We also require that all staff be currently eligible to work in Canada and for Campfire Circle.
