POSITION SUMMARY
The Nature Conservancy of Canada is planning to double its private revenue as part of its Strategic Plan. As the Senior Development Officer, you will directly impact NCC’s ability to meet its fundraising goals and the organization’s financial strength at large with your experience and expertise in corporate fundraising.
Managed by the Director of Development, you will be part of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan fundraising team working together to build out a sustainable revenue stream in line with organization targets. You will work strategically with fundraisers and conservation staff to cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors and prospects with significant revenue potential.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Regular travel (bimonthly, 3-4 days each trip) to meet with colleagues and donors outside of province of residence to secure gifts in support of the Prairie Grasslands Action Plan
- Post secondary educations with a focus in business, sales, marketing, fundraising or other related discipline;
- Minimum of five years of fundraising experience, preferably in corporate partnerships, corporate fundraising, major gifts, or equivalent experience.
- Track record of working well within a team structure, including the enthusiasm to both lead and assist in fund raising endeavours;
- Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, leading others and managing projects;
- Exceptional donor/client communications skills;
- Strong project management skills;
- Excellent writing skills, including a demonstrated ability to generate accurately researched and persuasive proposals, business correspondence and donor acknowledgements;
- Self-motivated, with superior time management skills and ability to work to meet deadlines;
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM and a demonstrated ability to learn new software applications efficiently;
Responsibilities:
You will play a critical role in NCC’s business development efforts with regards to grants. The SDO is a relationship-driven professional, comfortable with focusing on cultivation of new partnerships role, yet capable of handling complex and nuanced discussions with existing partners.
- Deliver on private revenue fundraising targets, including Prairie Grassland Action Plan targets, working with colleagues across Canada to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors.
- Develops solicitation materials, proposals, agreements and stewardship reports;
- Develops strategies for funding renewals always aiming to increase investment and deepen impact;
- Works with NCC staff to translate organizational priorities to significant opportunities for fundraising support;
- Meticulous about using the organization’s prospect management database, Raisers’ Edge to manage information related to major corporate prospects and supporters;
- Ensure that no program-related commitments are made to supporters without the agreement of relevant staff;
- Keep up to date on trends within the sector and evaluate how these trends affect NCC’s fundraising capabilities;
- Acts as moves manager for donors and partners and ensures robust stewardship strategies are in place with assigned actions
