Description:

Your mission
As Senior DevOps Engineer at VR Smart Guide you will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and managing the infrastructure that powers our digital solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The mission is to ensure smooth, scalable, and secure operations of our systems, with a focus on maintaining high availability and efficiency, while enabling fast, reliable delivery of new features.

Your role and contribution

  • Infrastructure Management: Design and implement cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) for highly available, scalable, and secure services.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Lead the automation of deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) to minimize downtime and enable frequent and reliable releases.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Establish monitoring systems to ensure uptime, performance, and early detection of issues (e.g., using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack). Lead the incident response process and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to integrate DevOps principles into the software development lifecycle, enabling faster and more efficient feature delivery.
  • Security: Implement security best practices including regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and security patches. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Device Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of end-user devices (e.g., laptops, workstations), ensuring proper security measures and software compliance.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor infrastructure costs and optimize resource usage to achieve cost-efficient operations.

Your profile

  • 5+ years in a DevOps role, ideally in a fintech or startup environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Cloud Platforms: Proven experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud providers (Azure, GCP)
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI)
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
  • Containers & Orchestration: Expertise in container technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
  • Security: Solid understanding of security best practices and compliance (ISO, GDPR)
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing to travel occasionally to Berlin and/or Eschborn

Our benefits

  • Educational budget of up to 1.500 Euros per year to enhance your professional knowledge and skills
  • A space to express yourself - shape this role and your work according to what you think works best for your development and company success
  • A hybrid work environment - we have locations in Eschborn (near Frankfurt) and Berlin to come together to collaborate. The rest of the time enjoy the flexibility of remote work
  • An exciting mix of cultures - yes, multiple nationalities coming together to serve small business owners AND a mix of speedy and scrappy startup action as well as an established brand to have our backs
  • An opportunity to make a difference - in the lives of small business owners and in shaping the way we work, what benefits to establish and how we celebrate each other
