Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on maintaining high operational standards, ensuring that SLAs such as MTTF, MTTR are consistency met, while driving automation, cloud infrastructure security, and cloud optimization initiatives.
The role is within the TRADEcho team which sits within the Application Services Division. Team is split across London, Colombo and operates in shift pattern. We strive for our engineers to work within small, agile, self-managed teams that emphasize standard process and believe quality is everyone’s responsibility. They bring an enthusiastic “you build it you run it” attitude whilst making sure they share their knowledge while removing constraints.
The ideal candidate will possess broad skill covering application support with some exposure to scripting, automation, release management, systems administration and databases. The role is most suited to candidates willing to adopt a demanding and varied but balanced and flexible work pattern, which would include covering shifts, participating in the 24x7 on-call rota and supporting weekend testing according to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • SLA Management: Monitor, measure, and maintain Service Level agreements (SLAs) related to system uptime, performance. Continuously work on improving system reliability, and incident response times.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Design, implement automated CD pipelines to ensure seamless software deployment. Develop infrastructure-as-Code(IaC) solutions to automate the provisioning and scaling of cloud resources.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Be responsible for and maintain cloud environments (AWS) ensuring high availability, scalability, cost and security. Optimize infrastructure for performance, cost and reliability.
  • Ownership: Act as the operations SME for one or more of the supported applications. Take ownership of operational live service issues and drive their resolution in order to reduce the number of recurring technical issues.
  • Deployment and Release: Handle the implementation of change without adverse impact to continuity of service, adhering to existing change policy and processes, collaborating closely with other business and technical teams
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure that system design, workflows and processes including runbooks are well-documented and aligned with compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with multi-functional teams (developers, QA, product owners, security and operations) to implement DevOps standard methodologies. Champion a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Shown experience as Senior DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency with Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP) cloud architecture, and security best practices.
  • Experience in Linux operating systems including BASH scripting knowledge – any additional scripting knowledge beneficial, particularly Python
  • Shown experience in Infrastructure-as-Code(IaC) using tools like Terraform, AWS, Cloud Formation, or Ansible.
  • Experience of working with Control-M, ServiceNow, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Datadog, Kafka with pro-active approach to learning about and adapting to new technologies
  • Application knowledge and experience preferably gained within a critical support environment
  • Shown ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Degree level qualification (preferably in computer science)

Preferred

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience of working with and supporting Java applications
  • Some knowledge of Capital Markets or of working in the financial industry
  • Relevant certification such as AWS DevOps Engineer and ITIL qualification
