Description:

For our customer, EUMETSAT, we are looking for future colleagues with experience in system administration, software deployment, continuous integration, and continuous development to help deploying, maintaining and evolving our customer’s DevOps infrastructure.
We are searching for skilled and motivated DevOps engineers who are able to work autonomously with minimal supervision representing Terma’s values in front of our customer.

The typical tasks would include:

  • High and low-level management of the current DevOps platform, suggesting improvements and deploying new systems and services.
  • Designing and implementing complex CI pipeline structures across various projects utilizing GitLab.
  • Supporting the SW development teams with diverse levels of CI adoption on the journey of homogeneous CI utilization across EUMETSAT.
  • Coordination of activities involving other internal EUMETSAT departments (ICT, Network, Security, etc.).
  • Basic administration and troubleshooting of Linux systems (RHEL and SLES based virtual machines and containers).

Your Profile:
The ideal candidate has an academic degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent with the following skills:

Mandatory skills:

  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Testing (CT), and Continuous Deployment (CD) best practices, principles, tools, and frameworks.
  • Experience managing, deploying, and scaling applications in different Cloud-Native technologies. Specifically:
  • Should have good understanding and experience in serverless architecture patterns, being able support 3rd parties on their transition.
  • Should have experience with container orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes), being capable of deploy, manage, and troubleshoot container environments.
  • Should be fluent using Infrastructure as Code tool set (like Git, Terraform, Ansible or similar tools).
  • Good knowledge and practical experience in GNU/Linux system administration with multiple distributions.
  • The ability and experience in troubleshooting issues in complex environments involving multiple layers and being able to identify issues on application, network, and infrastructure layers.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash and Python as minimum).
  • Solid understanding of computer networks and common application protocols.
  • Knowledge of IT security best-practices.

Desired skills:

  • A good understanding of cloud networking concepts (as security groups, network access control lists, routing, firewalls, load balancing, subnetting, VPN and virtual private clouds) is an advantage.
  • Experience with software development and relevant processes is an advantage.
  • Experience with building advanced CI/CD pipelines using GitLab is an advantage.
  • Certifications, such CNCF, Linux foundation, CKA/CKS and similar are as well an advantage.

Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as English is the working language. This is a hybrid position where you will be working up to 3 days/week at home and the rest at Terma’s location in Darmstadt (a city of 160K population, 30km south of Frankfurt am Main) Germany.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.
