Reports to: Deputy Director of Digital Engagement
Location: Remote within U.S
Salary Range: $64,400 - $80,000 (Depending on Experience and Location; this salary is based on California, New York and Washington DC)

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • First and foremost, a hunger and curiosity for advancing bold criminal justice reform.
  • Minimum 3 years of digital organizing and/or digital campaigning experience working on state or national, issue-based campaigns with a strong preference for racial and economic justice, criminal justice reform.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex information for diverse and mass audiences (e.g., supporters, partners, grassroots donors) across culture, age, race, and professional industries, via email, web content, text messaging, or social media.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with a range of digital platforms including call tools, texting tools, email builders, CRMs, etc. (ie: Mobile Commons, Action Kit, ThruText, Zoom, New/Mode, Slack, and AirTable.)
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Work both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • A passion for bridging divides and bringing people together around a common cause.
  • Tech savvy & keeps current with emerging digital platforms.
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Political or advocacy experience is preferred.
  • People with lived experience or some other personal connection to the criminal legal system are encouraged to apply.
  • We are looking for a candidate who spends a lot of time thinking about the role of organizing and mobilizing people in in-person and digital spaces.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

The Senior Digital Campaigner is an integral part of the Justice team. At a time when people are spending more of their lives and building more of their identities online, it is critical to treat digital organizing and mobilization with the same seriousness as traditional organizing. The Senior Digital Campaigner will work under the direction of the Advocacy & Engagement leadership to develop strategies and tactics to advance state and federal policy goals through digital tactics and strategies. The Senior Digital Campaigner’s role is to help craft digital actions that move us closer to winning, while recruiting new supporters and building power, leaving current and new members feeling inspired and more deeply engaged and ready to become volunteers and leaders with the Dream.Org. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for bridging divides and bringing people together across racial, social, cultural and political lines. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and implement digital tactics to advance priority state and federal legislation, in partnership with Campaign team members and our local allies.
  • Develop original and compelling content, such as emails, petitions, campaign scripts, web content, and text blasts to persuade targeted decision makers and move people across the political spectrum to take action.
  • Support the Justice team on federal, state, and local advocacy campaigns, particularly through conducting online events such as webinars, helping produce in-person events, and activating volunteers and members.
  • Generate innovative organizing tactics to bring new people into Justice’s supporter base, especially the Empathy Network through digital outreach.
  • Work with other Dream.Org organizing and membership teams to develop opportunities for volunteers working on remote and distributed campaigns to move up an engagement ladder.
  • Support digital aspects of the national “Day of Empathy” and help train digital volunteers to help execute events across the country.
  • Ensure all platforms and tools are integrated across the program and follow the same structures and systems.
  • Track and regularly report on analytics to inform digital engagement, campaign and other strategic decisions.
  • Sit on the Engagement Team while also supporting the Justice program team. Coordinate communications and strategies across both teams and serve a representative for each respective team.
