REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • Proven leadership experience in capturing DoD programs and working with Tier 1 prime contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and drive winning capture plans across diverse stakeholders within an organization.
  • Detailed knowledge of the ground vehicle defense market ecosystem, including R&D Captures (SBIRs, DARPA, AFRL, etc.), Program of Record captures (Acquisition Offices, PEOs, PMs), and Contract Vehicle (GSA, IDIQs, BOAs) captures.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries, leading customer meetings and cross-functional teams in developing customer solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal communication, presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and creative environment.
  • Knowledge of government procurement, contracting, and standards and specifications.
  • Extensive experience in the procurement process for complex military and/or IC systems.
  • Ability to effectively engage with technical and management representatives of U.S. Government and industrial customers.
  • Experience in leading competitive proposals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Sr Director of Business Development to support our C5ISR mission systems team. This role is pivotal in achieving the company’s growth objectives by identifying, developing, and leading the capture and proposal efforts for new business opportunities. The ideal candidate should possess technical proficiency, robust connections within the defense community, and a comprehensive understanding of DOD contracting strategies for our C5ISR customers. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this position will work closely with the Ground, Maritime & C2 P+L Sr Vice President.
This role will have an office sitting out of our Columbia, MD location, but will spend a significant amount of time at customer sites in or around Aberdeen, MD.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and develop new C5ISR business opportunities for P&L portfolio, including customers in the US DoD and other government agencies.
  • Develop and execute business plans to support the P&L in achieving revenue, bookings, and profit goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective strategic business relationships with customers and partners.
  • Build a portfolio of ground vehicle acquisition program opportunities, develop a business capture strategy for each and lead the proposal efforts leading to a revenue generating contract.
  • Lead capture and proposal efforts for innovation and contract research and development for the P+L portfolio.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective strategic business relationships with customers and partners.
  • Provide guidance and support to Executive Leadership on business investments and priorities to foster P+L growth.
  • Develop and implement opportunity-specific capture plans and strategies.
  • Generate accurate and realistic business forecasts and manage associated pipeline data.
  • Support product evolution plans in collaboration with Engineering; recommend independent research and development (IR&D) plans to support growth; and facilitate the acquisition of related contract research and development (CRAD).
  • Collaborate closely with the company’s Executive Leadership and various technology, programs, captures, and finance teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
