About the roleThis is a newly created role reporting to the Executive Program Director, with responsibility for providing system leadership in the management of design standards, buildability assessment, innovation and assurance as it relates to major Queensland Health built infrastructure. Leading a multidisciplinary team, this role will take a proactive approach to initiating and engaging with others to ensure projects or programs are delivered, implementing the design assurance framework for assessing and monitoring design compliance for engineering, design, buildability and ICT capability at various points in the project lifecycle. This role will champion best practice principles and advance innovation and initiatives that position Queensland Health as a leader in the health design field.
Key to the success of this role is the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with industry partners including the Queensland Office of the State Architect and the HHSs to ensure system-wide success in the delivery of projects and identifying and mitigating emerging risks. This role will also be responsible for representing the Health Infrastructure Queensland and providing strategic advice to Senior Executives to promote continuous improvement, deliver on key milestones, and maintain the overall integrity of the program.
The successful personThe successful candidatewill be a highly experienced and strategic leader, with the ability to navigate complex environments and a track record of success in health facility design, construction and engineering. You will be an effective communicator with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and customer service and have demonstrated experience in and knowledge of contemporary program and project management methodologies. You will be an innovative and collaborative problem solver, with the ability to anticipate risks and opportunities and deliver results and project outcomes according to timeline and budget requirements.
About usThe Design Innovation and Assurance team leads design innovation and assurance processes through the Queensland Health Standard Design committee, maintains and continuously improve Queensland Health design guidance material, Design Principles, CIR, BIM Models and Standardised Designs. We enable continuous improvement and engagement through different mediums across the system, provide clarity for project delivery teams and industry on what is required by the Queensland Health Way and design guidance, engage with internal and external project stakeholders on all matters relating to the quality of the built hospital infrastructure and we support Australasian Health Infrastructure designs based on evidence and industry and consumer collaboration by representing.
The Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ) works with the Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), the Department of Health, other government agencies and the construction sector to achieve value for money infrastructure outcomes. The program includes building three new hospitals, expanding 11, upgrading rural and regional health facilities and delivering thousands of new hospital beds in the next five years. In addition, the intent is for this to be the first tranche of a 15-year program of infrastructure investments. HIQ delivers an end-to-end capital infrastructure process. This includes all capital planning, business cases, construction and maintenance programs, whilst managing these through government processes for Queensland Health in partnership with HHSs. The Division is client focused and tailors its support to the individual needs of our HHS partners.
