Description:

As Senior Director, Finance you will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight for the organization, ensuring alignment with its mission and values. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is accountable for managing all financial aspects, including compliance with regulatory requirements, strategic planning, and budget development. The Senior Director, Finance plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and stability of all departments, supporting their objectives and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00PM

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active in the faith community is vital at the Senior Director level to inspire and guide the organization in its values.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent designation with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and audit processes as regulated in the CPA handbooks, other statutory and regulatory requirements, tax regulations, and financial risk management for NPO’s.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, understanding the unique financial challenges and reporting requirements and best practices within complex accounting processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, coaching, and fostering collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present financial information to senior leaders, Executive, the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in financial leadership, achieving key performance indicators, and driving organizational change.
  • Strong business acumen, including procedures, systems and policy development, implementation and compliance, and efficiency improvements.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a spiritual leader within The Mustard Seed, fostering and maintaining a culture centered around Christ and the biblical tenets.
  • Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, develop, implement and manage all financial data and strategies to ensure alignment with the organization’s vision, mission and goals, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and analysis of financial performance, providing strategic recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Oversee, review, analyze, create, and modify all aspects of accounting business processes for efficiency and accuracy ensuring all financial transactions are processed and recorded in compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reporting for the Chief Financial Officer, Board, Executive, Government, Foundations or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate annual financial statements, audits, tax filings, regulatory and statutory reporting and remittances.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, developing and implementing risk management strategies to protect the organization’s financial health and report key risks to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Uphold the organization’s mission, vision, ethical standards and employment values by demonstrating integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of operations including financial matters.
  • Inspire, coach, lead and manage a team of finance professionals setting clear goals and expectations, providing guidance, support and opportunities for professional development while cultivating a culture aligned in our values including Christ-Centeredness, integrity, respect, collaboration and accountability.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer and other executives by providing financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making including reporting.
  • Collaborate with peers across departments to ensure integration of financial goals into the overall organizational planning and operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, financial institutions, external auditors, vendors and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
