JOB SUMMARY
Manage and apply resources to general health information and coding operations, guided by experience, organizational goals and operational strategies. Also responsible for the management of cyclical projects. Work on complex health information and coding matters where analysis of issues, data and process require advanced specialist knowledge and in-depth industry and technical knowledge.
Oversee health information and coding management with accountability for the attainment of enterprise goals and objectives, and the alignment of services to enterprise initiatives, mission, vision and values. Standardize and integrate practices across the enterprise.
Collaborate with a multitude of individuals and departments across the enterprise, including providers and key departments of patient financial services, revenue cycle, Information Technology (IT), privacy and compliance.
Organize and streamline operations to achieve financial and service objectives. Develop and manage a multi-million dollar annual budget. Work extensively with IT, including an integrated electronic health record.
Participate in revenue cycle strategies and initiatives. Demonstrate vision and leadership in strategic planning and manage multiple competing priorities and diverse viewpoints. Lead by example, with initiative, self-discipline, confidence and professionalism to encourage and enable a management team and staff.
Analyze existing paradigms and create streamlined processes. Utilize innovative thinking and creative problem solving skills. Facilitate effective meetings and encourage teamwork and collaboration to accomplish goals.
Must demonstrate a broad-based knowledge of coding, billing and health information management practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in health information administration or a related field required. Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Administration (MHA) or a master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum seven years of progressively responsible management experience in a large health care system required. Two years of experience in medical records management preferred.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) required.
