ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Senior Director, Marketing, Rare Disease - Friedreich Ataxia (FA) will be a critical role and visible leader within the organization, leading overall strategy and execution of the FA business within the US. This individual will serve as the US Head and Brand Lead for Friedreich Ataxia.
This individual will lead a team of 4-5 professionals and manage US brand strategy and tactics for the continued launch of a first and only medicine for the treatment of Friedreich Ataxia. This professional will lead a cross functional team composed of, but not limited to Business Intelligence and Operations, Patient Services, Market Access, Medical, Advocacy, Market Research, Forecasting, Analytics, Omnichannel, Legal, Regulatory and HR to achieve objectives.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing – Rare Disease, this role will be a highly visible position within the organization with a focus on the continued launch efforts in Friedreich Ataxia, maximizing its market potential, leading overall US strategy and execution. Biogen’s Rare Disease portfolio has continued to grow and remains a key area of focus for the organization. This is a key leadership role carrying with it great visibility and the opportunity for advancement to many other senior roles within the company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT: Oversee the development of strategic US brand plan for Friedreich Ataxia. Serve as US brand lead, designing creative campaigns, message development and ensuring consistent messaging throughout the field and alignment within the broader organization. Contribute as a thought leader on cross-functional Rare Disease strategy projects which require input from and have implications for functions outside of commercial. Understand pricing and reimbursement dynamics to identify obstacles and develop strategies and recommendations to address market challenges.
EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP: Build and lead a best-in-class Rare Disease marketing team and inspire them to achieve superior performance. Set goal-based priorities for the team and each individual team member to ensure alignment with the broader marketing organization. Form strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders which ensure organization alignment and success in brand strategy and messaging, patient finding, market awareness and sales execution. Support and enable the organization by providing rare disease expertise and partnering with peers and other senior business leaders to develop and implement solutions to challenging business issues. Establish credibility throughout the organization and position self as an effective problem solver and driver of business growth and an exceptional leader of people.
MARKETING EXECUTION: Develop brand goals and forecasts and measure results. Partner with Finance to understand performance dynamics and to evaluate business opportunities. Develop, track and assess key brand performance metrics. Ensure marketing programs and campaigns are executed effectively and efficiently and within budget. Develop programs and tools for optimal sales force effectiveness. Conduct in-depth competitive assessments in partnership with Business Intelligence team as necessary to provide insightful, actionable information regarding relevant business opportunities. Ensure strong ROI on all investments.
BUILD RARE DISEASE CAPABILITIES: Scan internal and external environment to ensure Biogen’s continues to build best in class rare disease capabilities in areas including but not limited to – patient finding, social medial and omnichannel, artificial intelligence, advocacy, access, and high-touch patient support.
