Description:
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a 501(c)(3) lineage-based membership organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American History, and securing America’s future through education, seeks an experienced professional to serve as our new Senior Director for Member Relations and Outreach.
This newly created position will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of membership growth strategies, as well as the day-to-day management of DAR’s member engagement.
The successful candidate must understand the importance of membership to an organization and will use existing resources, while recognizing the need for new methods, to engage members and seek out new interested individuals. They will also have hands on experience working with individual members and addressing their needs and issues.
This role reports to the Executive Director and will liaise with executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience, including 5 years of management experience leading a member services department within an individual membership based environment.
- Experience working with executive leadership in a non-profit organization.
- A demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead a diverse team.
- A strong understanding of membership value creation and engagement strategies.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
- Everyday use of membership databases, and a working knowledge of Microsoft office products.
- Resourceful, with the ability to make decisions in an evolving environment with the anticipation of future needs.

Responsibilities:
- Oversees a group of senior-level professionals.
- Develops and directs a growth strategy that includes the identification of opportunities to expand our membership and enhance engagement.
- Creates and promotes programs, resources, and benefits that meet the evolving needs of our community.
- Utilizes data driven insights to monitor membership trends, identifies areas of improvement, and measures the success of initiatives.
- Works with other departments to develop a communications strategy to ensure a broader awareness of the value of DAR membership.
- Builds and develops a team that will be responsible for the overall membership experience.
- Works with state level leadership to ensure they receive necessary guidance and support to engage members on a state and local level.
- Evaluates existing dues structure and makes recommendations for possible future strategic changes.
