Position Purpose: The Senior Director of Childcare will lead all aspects of our childcare programs. This includes the Early Learning Center (infants through Pre-K), Before and After School Enrichment within the Great Valley School District (grades K-5), and Child Watch (short term child supervision amenity offered to Y members at our branch). Recruits, trains, onboards and supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include hiring, payroll functionality, and training of staff and volunteers, curriculum development and evaluation, budget management, and adhering to all License regulations and Association standards. Provides liaison to committee(s) and advisory board(s) and takes a leadership role in philanthropy activities. Responsible for oversight of multiple departments and associated team members, including the Early Learning Childcare Director and School Age Childcare Director. Position considers the size, scope, and budget of the departments and/or branch volume in classification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field or related experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of childcare experience and staff supervision with the YMCA or within another youth development-based organization preferred.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations is a preferred.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire. YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification is required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads daily operations including fiscal management and development, maintaining program statistics and audits to monitor and evaluate the quality of all programming and departments assigned.
  • Develops implements, manages, and uses data to evaluate operating plans to promote programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Develops and supports strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Responsible for the oversight and evaluation of multiple programs. Program delivery duties as needed.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises assigned staff along with volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Ensures accurate completion of all payroll functionality for assigned staff including but not limited to: timecard approvals, changes and scheduling of assigned staff.
  • Takes leadership role for branch mission advancement and/or volunteer activities.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Ensures that program and Association standards and policies are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, data-driven evaluations and ongoing training of staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data, rosters, schedules, and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborations with community organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
