Description:
Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Global Supply Management (m/f/d) will be responsible for managing the overall supply chain and logistics, inclusive of strategic sourcing, procurement, demand planning, and materials management, across multiple businesses. This role requires strategic planning, materials management, leadership, and exceptional negotiation skills to ensure the company’s sourcing and procurement activities are cost-effective and value-adding. This individual is a key strategic partner to all the businesses within Hillenbrand. This individual must have the right mindset to enable collaboration, achieve breakthrough performance, and ensure that all work is linked to the business outcomes, such as growth and return on capital.
Work You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans across multiple businesses to achieve significant cost savings and improve operational efficiency
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and processes to optimize business performance and meet future business needs
- Develop and implement processes and strategies for materials management as well as demand planning
- Monitor market trends and developments to identify potential opportunities and risks.
- Implement sourcing and procurement best practices and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, as well as process optimization
- Collaborate with other departments to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
- Develop and manage performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of sourcing strategies and initiatives.
- Lead and mentor the sourcing and procurement teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Develop high performing, agile, scalable teams. Provide coaching, development, training, and career planning to team
- Create a service performance culture that is agile and flexible
- Key performance indicators (but not limited to): Productivity, Working Capital – terms & inventory, Synergy, Delivery | Fill Rate, Quality, Sustainability, Spend Under Contract, Risk Scoring, SIOP, Procurement cycle, Compliance Rates New Product Development, and Innovation
- Direct and lead initiatives to improve supply management, policy guidance, and pricing activities supporting our Hillenbrand Operating Model (HOM)
- Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities related to the procurement function
- Partner with suppliers on innovations to drive value for the business and ensure that we are not disrupted in the marketplace
- Partner with business New Product Development and Business Innovation teams to support supplier selection, development, and launch
- Leverage big data and data science to discover patterns and solve strategic & tactical business problems using massive structured and unstructured data sets across multiple environments
- Leverage analytic tools to identify new opportunities and better outcomes for the both the business and customer, help define new “ways of working”
- Guide and support team of Global Supply Category Managers to conduct quote, negotiate with suppliers, award business (with business consensus), and supplier relationship management
- Coordinate with Global Supply Management leaders to define and implement corporate policies and initiatives such as but not limited to supplier diversity, supplier risk, data management, etc.
- Lead, project manage, and support supplier footprint optimization – transitioning supply between regions to de-risk, dual source, and leverage competitiveness of best cost country
- Provide support and leadership to ensure global sourcing synergy projects (as applicable) are identified and executed – with critical focus to drive synergy across the MTS business portfolio
- Ensure that product costing and sourcing decisions are based upon the total cost of sourced items (Total Cost of Ownership - TCO) for example: currency exchange, freight, non-value added activities, and consideration for localized or imported sourcing
- Develop and manage the respective team budgets
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Logistics, etc.) across the company to drive success
- Effectively engage as an executive member of the Global Supply Management staff team
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Proven experience (minimum of 7 years) in a senior leader sourcing role, preferably with a spend coverage of $400M or more. Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices. Excellent negotiation and strategic planning skills. Strong leadership and team management skills. Strong financial acumen and project management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in relevant sourcing and procurement software. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Manufacturing process knowledge preferred with experience in clean sheet and total cost of ownership. Demonstrated success in Working Capital (inventory, terms) and Leadtime initiatives, as well as inventory management. International experience required. Makes and meets commitments, with mindset to outperform. Travel: 40%-60%. This role requires fluency is both English and German language.
Preferred Qualifications:
An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred. Prefer candidates to have prior experience in implementing SIOP as well as planning, logistics and distribution. #LI-SC1
