Description:

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Education: Terminal degree (PhD, DVM, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in basic science research and 5 years in the animal health industry.
  • Top 2 skills: Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MECHANISTIC BIOLOGY

As the Senior Director of Mechanistic Biology, you will be a key member of the Research and Breakthrough Innovation team, driving Elanco’s strategy for biological target identification, prioritization, and validation. In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading a diverse team of senior scientists, managing research collaborations, and contributing to the development of Elanco’s scientific strategy.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for biological target identification, prioritization, and validation.
  • Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of senior scientists.
  • Establish and manage internal and external research collaborations, including partnerships with academia.
  • Oversee budget and resource allocation for the Mechanistic Biology group.
  • Communicate scientific findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
